Medal of Honor recipient goes head-to-head with neighborhood association over flag pole
A 90-year-old World War II veteran has until tomorrow (Friday) to remove a flag pole from his front yard or face a civil suit. The Sussex Square Homeowners Association in Henrico County has told Colonel Van Barfoot that his flag pole, from which he flies the American Flag until dusk each day, is in violation of neighborhood rules. Barfoot, who received the Medal of Honor, got a phone call from Senator Mark Warner expressing support for the veteran. Warner also voiced his support publicly yesterday - via Twitter.
