Here's a first look at the new Doors documentary, "When You're Strange", which was narrated by Johnny Depp. All the footage in the film was shot between 1966 and 1970 and most of it has never been seen before. It includes the early days of Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek in film school, concert and in-studio footage. "When You're Strange" will be in select theaters starting April 9th.

The first feature documentary on the Doors will hit the bigscreen April 9.
"When You're Strange" is narrated by Johnny Depp (and written and directed by Tom DiCillo). The film relies almost entirely on archival footage... most of it hasn't been seen before.

(The film first played at Sundance in 2009.)
"When You're Strange" was made with support of band members Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger, as well as the estate of Jim Morrison. Manzarek has said in interviews that the doc is the antidote to Oliver Stone's film "The Doors."
The 90-minute film uses footage shot between the band's formation in 1965 and Morrison's death in 1971, including footage from Morrison and Manzarek's time together at UCLA's film school.
It will open in markets including New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle and San Francisco.
The film's soundtrack will be available March 30.
The DVD will be released three months after that. (The film also will air on PBS' American Masters series.)
